- Julian Hinton: |
| |
From an early age it was the song-form
that first captured Julian Hinton's musical imagination.
Since the age of sixteen, as a
keyboard player Julian has played hi-energy funk
and afro-latin at London's Cargo club with Basil
Issac's 'Black To Basic' crew; he has lead a Jazz
Piano Trio backing Edinburgh darling Kate Dimbleby
in her tours of the UK, Australia and New Zealand;
has arranged and composed for Cambridge based
drum 'n bass outfit "Grizzly" and he
has also toured Italy playing and arranging for
EMI Italy's 'Z-STAR'.....
But writing songs and singing
has always been a passion.
2006 sees the emerging of a much
cherished, beautifully crafted collection - his
debut album, "My Precious Life". Pieces
that feature not only wonderful musicianship,
but a lyricism that is mature, thoughtful and
intimate.
Press Reviews
'The Julian Hinton Band'
"
are so tight they
are almost vacuum-packed!" (TIME OUT)
"play brilliantly" (THE
SCOTSMAN)
"
the razor sharp Julian
Hinton Trio" (THE SUNDAY TIMES)
Julian's expressive, warm and
melt-in-the-mouth songs have all the hallmarks
of timeless classics; take time out to catch him
live at Diversity!

- Cheri D'Avino: |
| |
Cherie makes a welcome return
to bless the microphone at 'Diversity' once more.
Based in South London, singer/songwriter Cherie
fuses Soul, Funk, Jazz and Blues yet still maintains
a youthful contemporary sound. Born in the UK
into an Anglo-Italian musical family, she has
been influenced by many cultures and experiences,
from living and breathing the culture of Mexico
to appreciating the delicacy of European life.
At the tender age of 16 Cherie was taken under
the wing of Junior Delgado where she would spend
hours in his South London Studio working along
side him and his team.
Having attended London's key performing
arts academy 'WAC' along-side fellow students
such as 'Miss Dynamite' and Kevin from 'The Streets',
she has gone on to work with successful artists
such as Angie Brown (Im Gonna Get you baby), Wire
Jazz Award winner Cleveland Watkiss and world
renowned Jazz Session singer/songwriter Mary Pierce.
More recently Cherie has been working with fellow
UK signed artiste Vanessa Brown (Polydor, A&M/Interscope/Universal)
were they collaborated on tracks; 'Everyday' ,
'Did you ever care' and 'New York, New York'.
In 2003 Cherie performed at the
Royal Albert Hall (Chariot of Fire Show) a benefit
concert for the 9/11 tragedy that was directed
by Tano Rea. This gave Cherie that extra fire
in her belly to make the next big step as an independent
artist.
She has spent some time in the
US working on various projects with producer Chiba
Antoine (Universal Music), former member of the
Urbanhitmen who has produced for Brandy, Lauren
Hill & Destiny's Child. Fast forward to the
present, she is now working with Max Herman/ Simon
Changer from SONY/BMG publishing, recording her
EP and writing for multi platinum artists such
as Kelly Clarkson. Cherie is definitely one to
watch!

- Bernita Brumant: |
| |
Still in her early twenties, singer/
songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Bernita
has performed at De Montfort Hall, The Ocean,
The Royal Albert Hall and numerous venues around
the UK.
Her key influences include some
of Soul music's greatest stars of the ninetees
e.g. Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, TLC. Bernita's
sound is smooth and easy on the air, yet she retains
a certain something that's hard to describe but
easy to feel, if you like your music sunny side
up, you'll love the captivating sounds of Bernita
Brumant.

- Miranda: |
| |
Miranda teamed up with Argentinian
producer and part time model Ariel from MORENO
in Feb 2006 to write her debut album. They follow
the producer-singer format that no one has exploited
for some time. Not since Eurythmics have we had
such a strong duo emerging in mainstream music,
this is sure to give them a unique commercial
edge.
This very hard working team has
come up with an all-hits-no-fillers bunch of songs
that are ready to be recorded. They have put a
solid band together and are doing the London circuit.
Miranda feels most at home on stage where her
voice really comes into its own.
Get Down has HIT written all over
it, making use of the country classic 'Jolene'
by Dolly Parton they have come up with a perfect
pop/ funk crossover ready to burst into the charts.

| 10.30pm
- Zarif: |
| |
London based singer/ songwriter
Zarif is an artiste who's star is in the ascendancy,
without a doubt she possesses bags of talent and
that all important 'wow factor'.
Some of her influences include
Stevie Wonder, The Police, Prince, James Brown,
Eva Cassidy, Alicia Keys and Guns and Roses. She
cites Soul, Funk & Rock as the genres she
is most into, perhaps this explains why her sound
is at once smooth yet husky but most definitely
soulful and a massage for the ears.
Zarif has been busy establishing
herself on the London circuit and getting her
sound heard. She's all geared up to make her 'Diversity'
debut which promises to be something special,
miss this and you've missed!!!
